Richmond National expands Virginia operations with $1.7 million investment

Richmond National  is expanding its operations in Glen Allen, Virginia, with a $1.75 million investment that will create 75 new jobs, according to an announcement by Abigail Spanberger.

Founded in 2020, Richmond National focuses on providing property and casualty insurance solutions for small and mid-sized businesses that face challenges securing coverage in the standard market. The expansion reinforces the company’s commitment to the Greater Richmond region, where it initially established operations due to the availability of insurance and financial services talent.

State officials pointed to the region’s workforce as a key driver behind the company’s growth. Virginia’s Secretary of Commerce and Trade, Carrie Chenery, highlighted the state’s strong talent pipeline as a factor attracting insurance companies and supporting their expansion.

CEO Joseph C. Kavanagh said the company continues to see hiring opportunities in the region, citing its business environment and access to skilled professionals as contributors to its early success.

Local officials in Henrico County also supported the expansion, noting its role in job creation and economic growth in the area. The project was secured through collaboration with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, which will support hiring efforts through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, a state-funded initiative that helps companies offset recruitment and training costs.

The move positions Richmond National to scale its specialty insurance offerings while deepening its presence in a region increasingly recognized as a hub for insurance and financial services.
