Renaissance to acquire Ansel Health

Renaissance , a national ancillary benefits carrier, announced an agreement to acquire Ansel Health , a supplemental health insurance company. The deal follows their collaboration on RenSecureHealth, a product designed to close coverage gaps for employees, employers, and brokers.

Founded in 2019, Ansel has 46 employees with no reported growth over the past year and has raised $42 million to date, including a $20 million round in January 2024 from investors such as Brewer Lane Ventures, Digitalis, Morgan Creek Capital Management, Operator Partners, Plug and Play, Portag3 Ventures, Sai Group, SixThirty, SymphonyAI, and Two Sigma Ventures.

The company was previously known as Clara Insurance, later Brella, and adopted its current name in January 2024.

Both Fidelity and Symetra function as carrier partners for Ansel, underwriting and issuing the limited benefit insurance policies that power Ansel’s supplemental health platform.
