Prudential plc appoints new Group Chief Agency Officer
Prudential plc announced the appointment of Pankaj Banerjee as Group Chief Agency Officer, effective September 30 2024. He will report to Lilian Ng, Managing Director of the Strategic Business Group.
Banerjee will lead the acceleration of Prudential’s technology-powered distribution strategy, focusing on the agency channel. Based in Hong Kong at Prudential’s Group head office, he will collaborate with teams across Prudential’s 24 markets in Asia and Africa.
Banerjee brings over 24 years of insurance management experience back to Prudential. His career includes senior roles with ICICI Prudential in India, Chief Partnership Distribution Officer with Prudential Vietnam, and founding Chief Executive Officer for Prudential Cambodia. Most recently, he was Chief Distribution Officer for Manulife Asia. He also served as CEO for AIA in Sri Lanka and CEO, Partnership Distribution at the AIA Group.
In August 2023, under CEO Anil Wadhwani, Prudential announced a new strategy aiming for quality agency growth. The goal is to increase agency new business profit by 2.5 to 3 times from the 2022 level by 2027.
