Progress in the Hyundai–Root partnership

Root Insurance  has launched a co-branded auto insurance offering for Hyundai Motor Finance customers, marking the next step in its distribution partnership with Hyundai Capital America.

Through a dedicated landing page and possibly direct-mail flow, Hyundai drivers can request a Root quote and manage their policy through the Root app. The offer positions Root as a preferred insurance option for HMF customers, with the pitch centered on personalized rates, simple onboarding, and the ability to save “up to $1,200 a year” based on customer-reported data.

The product includes liability, optional collision and comprehensive, roadside assistance, medical payments, and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Root highlights its use of technology and data science to price policies and its 4.7-star rating in the App Store based on more than 65,000 reviews.

Hyundai Capital America first announced its partnership with Root in April 2025, describing it as part of a broader push to improve the ownership experience for HCA customers. Root framed the collaboration as a way to diversify distribution and build tailored insurance offerings for OEM partners.

Hyundai has made prior attempts to link driving data with insurance. In 2021, Hyundai Motor America partnered with Verisk to let drivers share telematics data for potential discounts, though the program has since been discontinued.

The new direct-mail URL (joinroot.com/hyundai-motor-finance/direct-mail) suggests Hyundai customers are being targeted with an acquisition campaign directing them into the Root ecosystem.
