PawPay is live
PawPay has launched a platform to let pet parents use pet insurance benefits at the veterinary checkout counter instead of waiting for reimbursement after paying the full bill upfront.
The company said it advances the insurance covered portion of a veterinary bill directly to clinics after claim approval, while pet owners pay only their deductible and co insurance amount at checkout. PawPay then collects reimbursement from the insurer as the pet parent’s authorized collection agent.
Cinics can receive payment within around 15 minutes of claim approval, and insurers retain claims decision authority through an adjuster portal integrated into the platform. PawPay said it is not a lender or insurance carrier and does not adjudicate claims.

PawPay is carrier agnostic, but its future clients could end up competing with the likes of Trupanion and Paw Protect; to name two. Trupanion’s VetDirect Pay system enables direct payment to participating veterinary hospitals at checkout, while Paw Protect combines a pet insurance product with an instant reimbursement experience.
