NFP to access John Hancock’s new underwriting capabilities
NFP announced a strategic collaboration with John Hancock to “significantly streamline” the life insurance buying experience. NFP will offer a simple way for clients of NFP advisors to share access to their electronic health records (EHR) digitally and in real time.
Through its longstanding relationship with John Hancock, NFP will have access to the Human API health data platform, which allows for EHR data collection from over 85% of US healthcare providers (health systems, hospitals, clinics and physician offices). NFP advisors will be able to leverage this platform with their clients so they can share their current and historical medical information via Human API’s digital, secure, HIPAA-compliant authorization process. The platform allows clients to control their personal information and give John Hancock underwriters instant access to critical medical information (lab results, medications, vital measurements and conditions).
“We are excited to be a part of the changes John Hancock is making through its alignment with Human API, as they dovetail with NFP’s overall innovation initiatives. Instead of waiting weeks for an attending physician statement, and having potentially uncomfortable conversations with applicants about sensitive medical information, we are empowering our advisors with an easier process that ultimately creates a superior buying experience for their clients.” – Mike James, president of NFP individual solutions and PartnersFinancial.
“Transforming the life insurance industry by simplifying the purchase process and reducing the time from application to issue is a top priority for John Hancock. We are always looking to work with like-minded distribution partners and it’s great to see NFP embracing new technology and offering their customers the level of service they expect in today’s digital marketplace.” – Susan Ghalili, VP, underwriting transformation and chief underwriter of John Hancock Insurance.
