On June 5, 2017, Mutual & Federal changed its name to Old Mutual Insure. “The proposed name change was informed by research conducted over the past two years among employees, customers, intermediaries and key personnel in Old Mutual. The research indicated that a single unified brand will have significant advantages for our company and for you, our customer, who will gain the benefit of a full range of short-term insurance solutions under one brand, improved service and lower costs.”

Recall: Old Mutual Insure is a Johannesburg-based insurer, established in 1831, that offers P&C insurance. It is led by Raimund Snyders. Also, it is the oldest short-term insurer in South Africa.

Bottom Line: several insurers have hit the refresh button last year including Brotherhood Mutual, Grinnell Mutual and MassMutual.
