Munich Re’s Nexible has evolved beyond recognition

In 2017, Munich Re , through its subsidiary ERGO, introduced Nexible , a fully digital auto insurance brand in Germany.

Positioned under ERGO Digital Ventures—which oversaw all digital and direct business for the ERGO Group—Nexible launched with a focus on providing an entirely online insurance experience for cost-conscious customers. Its motor insurance product allowed customers to quote, purchase, manage, and cancel policies entirely online. Policy options included motor liability, partial, and fully comprehensive coverage, with add-ons like gap coverage and free choice of repair shop. Damage claims could be reported digitally, and in most cases, Nexible would provide a repair estimate and offer reimbursement within two hours. Complex cases were handled by claims specialists. Policy adjustments and cancellations were available on a month-to-month basis.

Nexible’s car insurance product, launched in 2018, was discontinued after five years. The company stopped selling the product in 2022 and terminated all active contracts by the end of 2023. Nexible now offers travel and dental insurance online.
