Meet The CEO That Has Over 20 Life Insurance Policies

Ariel Cantos, the chief executive of Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company, also referred to as Philam Life, holds 20 insurance policies for himself and his family, wants to hire more millennials, and is very proud of the company’s refurbished offices (“look and feel very vibrant and very colorful”), and centers of excellence called Genesis by Philam Life.

Refresher. Philam Life, established in 1947, is a pan-Asian life insurance company that’s part of AIA Group, with branches in India, China, Singapore, Australia, and Indonesia; to name five. CEO Ariel Cantos entered his newish-current role last year after spending his entire career with Philam. And it was just like in the movies, where a poor boy reaches the top of the corporate ladder.

“I was in Hong Kong; I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. At 2 a.m., I couldn’t sleep, I stood up. I was on the 38th floor of that Hong Kong hotel. I looked up to the sky, the moon was almost full – and I wept” – CEO Ariel Cantos on his promotion.

Now Philam Life is on a mission to become the leader in life insurance and wealth management in the Philippines with products geared toward serving the needs of millennials, and to do that – it is looking to hire more millennials; a lot more than the current ~1,000 millennials it employs, out of its 8,000 agents and financial advisors.
