Lockton and Nexar launch autonomous vehicle safety benchmark framework
Lockton and Nexar introduced a framework designed to benchmark autonomous vehicle safety against real-world human driving behavior.
The framework is intended to help insurers, regulators, and autonomous vehicle developers evaluate whether AV systems perform at, above, or below human-level safety in comparable conditions.
The platform is powered by Nexar’s BADAS 2.0 collision anticipation model, which was trained on 10 billion miles of real-world driving data and 60 million safety-critical events collected through a network of 350,000 cameras across U.S. roads.
Initial components include the Nexar Risk Index, which assesses environmental driving risks, and Nexar Apex, a platform allowing AV companies to test systems against real-world edge cases.
