Lightspeed to acquire Ecwid and NuORDER
Provider of an e-commerce platform for merchants Lightspeed POS announced its plans to acquire Ecwid and NuORDER.
Founded in 2009, Ecwid is an Encinitas, CA-based provider of an e-commerce platform for customers to create online businesses.
Founded in 2011, NuORDER is a Los Angeles, CA-based provider of a wholesale e-commerce platform that connects businesses and suppliers.
“By joining forces with Ecwid and NuORDER, Lightspeed becomes the common thread uniting merchants, suppliers, and consumers, a transformation we believe will enable innovative retailers to adapt to the new world of commerce. As economies reopen and business creation accelerates, we hope to embolden entrepreneurs with the tools they need to simplify their operations and scale their ambitions.” – Dax Dasilva, Founder, and CEO of Lightspeed.
The news follows Lightspeed’s partnership with jewelry insurance startup BriteCo as the latter’s appraisal system integrates with Lightspeed for retail jewelers to save time on appraisals. Once an appraisal is finalized, retail jeweler customers receive an insurance quote directly from BriteCo for their consideration.
