Liberty Specialty Markets expands in Nordics with new Oslo office

Liberty Specialty Markets  is opening a new office in Oslo as part of its broader European growth strategy. The move strengthens LSM’s reach across Norway, Sweden, and Finland, where demand for insurance capacity has grown amid market volatility.

The Oslo team will offer a range of first- and third-party commercial insurance products, including financial lines, cyber, energy, and construction—particularly for the renewable sector. The expansion builds on Liberty Mutual’s 2024 acquisition of House of Guarantees, a Norwegian MGA focused on surety, with its former COO, Daniel Unstad, now leading the Oslo office.

LSM plans to grow its local team to around two dozen by 2028, with a focus on long-term client and broker relationships, rather than opportunistic market entry. The Oslo office marks the latest step in LSM’s Invest in Europe strategy, with Belgium expected to follow.
