Liberty Mutual Launches “MasterThis” Platform in Partnership with HowStuffWorks

When facing challenges at home or on the road, whether driving in winter weather or preparing for a move, you worry less when you know more. That’s why Liberty Mutual teamed up with HowStuffWorks®, an award-winning source of unbiased, reliable, easy-to-understand answers and explanations, to develop a new go-to online platform, MasterThisTM. The site features exclusive content by HowStuffWorks and helps home and auto owners address immediate needs by providing the tools and know-how to fully master a topic so they can tackle those challenges with greater confidence.

“It’s important for auto and home owners to be proactive and prepared, as both routine and unexpected events can often cause worry moments – such as the stress of maintaining an older vehicle on a budget or preparing for a hurricane.” said Jenna Lebel, assistant vice president and manager of Digital Marketing at Liberty Mutual Insurance. “That’s why consumers may find this online resource so valuable, empowering them with all the knowledge they need to address these worries head-on to preserve and protect what matters most to them.”

Backed by customer research, the user experience is designed around easy-to-navigate MasterKits. Visitors can select the topic they would like to master and explore a range of articles, tools, videos and infographics. Topics range from “Conquer Car Care” and “Excel at Winter Driving” to “Move With Ease” and “Tackle Home Repair.”

In advance of President’s Day, the newly released “Buy a Car with Confidence” MasterKit includes tips on the best time to buy a car, how to negotiate the best deal and advice for buying cars for teen drivers. This MasterKit will also soon include new videos on how to test drive a car and tips for having a stress-free car shopping experience, as well as interactive quizzes like “What Car Should You Buy: New or Used?” to help consumers make the right purchasing decision for themselves and their families. Additional MasterKits will also launch throughout 2017.

“Similar to our mission at HowStuffWorks, the MasterThis platform is designed to put consumers back in control,” said Jason Hoch, ‎chief content officer at HowStuffWorks. “It is a go-to resource built to demystify home and auto problems with simplified strategies and solutions that help readers to master issues and be better prepared for the future.”

MasterThis is also compatible with Amazon Alexa, the voice service that powers Amazon’s Echo and Fire devices, enabling consumers to navigate these topics simply by using their voice. When prompted by the user command, “Alexa, open Liberty Mutual,” the skill will give consumers direct access to the MasterThis site and offer a range of topics for consumers to learn more. Based on the user’s direction, Alexa will provide strategies and solutions to overcome worries like preparing for a roadside emergency or moving into a new home.
