Liberty Mutual appoints Phil Hobbs as president of underwriting for GRS

Liberty Mutual  has appointed Phil Hobbs as president of underwriting for its Global Risk Solutions (GRS) business, effective April 1. He will report to GRS President Matthew Moore and oversee underwriting strategy, portfolio management, and product leadership across the global property, casualty, and specialty lines.

Hobbs currently serves as president of Liberty International Insurance and brings around 25 years of industry experience, including two decades at Liberty Mutual. His prior roles include chief actuary, deputy managing director, and chief underwriting officer at Liberty Specialty Markets.

The move follows Moore’s recent promotion to GRS president. Hobbs will continue leading the international business until a successor is named and will remain based in London.

Liberty Mutual’s GRS unit provides commercial and specialty insurance, reinsurance, and surety solutions to mid-size and large businesses worldwide.
