With Gavin, customers purchase coverage that is “up to 50% cheaper, month after month. And some months you might not pay anything at all due to [its] revolutionary system.” This kind of ‘revolutionary’: At Gavin, a customer only pays if there are claims. When a claim occurs, Gavin divides the total cost of claims per month among all Gavin users, after it collects a 15% fee. However, customers will never pay more than their maximum contribution, which ranges from €0 to €5,39 per month. Get a feel for its UI below:
Wondering ‘what’s in a name?’ The ‘G’ and the ‘av’ are taken from the law of general average, while the ‘in’ stands for innovation.
Wondering what’s on the horizon? Gavin plans to offer travel insurance soon.
Last, both cofounders are super-multitaskers (look below), and one of Gavin’s software engineers, Karel van der Veldt, is now looking for a new job, after working for the startup for a year and 5 months.
Bottom Line: you acknowledge that Gavin does not provide insurance as an insurance company. Also, sounds a lot like Insure A Thing. PS. Interested in further reading? Gavin General Terms
