Introducing the Safety Button

With a Canary device at home, you always know what’s going on in and around your home. And with the Canary app you’re also always equipped and empowered to act in an emergency situation.

The smart home player has added a layer of personal security to its service that extends beyond the home, to provide users and their families with a personal safety net, no matter where they are.

By partnering with Noonlight, leaders in emergency response products, Canary is now offering a ‘Safety Button’ via its app to notify first responders with one’s GPS location, personal information, and any contextual data necessary in the case of an emergency.

As a standalone app, Noonlight’s service usually costs $2.99/month per user, but the Safety Button is available now for free to all U.S. Canary users at a location with Membership. Here’s How It Works: a user updates their Canary app to set up their Noonlight account. Later, he/she creates a login, and if they ever feel unsafe, they open the Canary app and tap the Safety Button icon. When the button is released, a 10-second countdown timer will start, prompting users to enter their Safety Button PIN. As soon as the countdown timer reaches zero, their location and distress signal will immediately be shared with local emergency services dispatchers.
