Introducing AirCover protection program by Airbnb

Airbnb announced the launch of a protection program dubbed AirCover that groups together the company’s Host damage protection, Host liability insurance, and Experiences liability insurance. It offers $1 million in damage protection and $1 million in liability coverage and adds protection for pet damage and deep cleaning – funded by Airbnb – beyond what would be covered by the standard pet and cleaning fees .

The host damage protection keeps the place, and what’s in it, protected whenever the owner is hosting on Airbnb. It isn’t an insurance policy, and not all damage is covered.

The host liability insurance covers guests who are hurt or their property is damaged during an Airbnb stay. In the majority of jurisdictions, the host liability insurance program provides insurance through a policy issued by Zurich .

The experiences liability insurance protects the owner if a guest is hurt or their property is damaged during an Airbnb Experience.

All in all, AirCover is always included and is free for all new and existing hosts, offering: $1M damage protection, $1M liability insurance, income loss protection, pet damage protection, deep cleaning protection, a 14-day filing window, quicker reimbursement (“within 9 days on average”), and a faster track for Superhosts.

Bottom Line: Airbnb’s insurance underwriters include Zurich, Generali, Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance, and People’s Insurance Company of China.
