Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance launches Peril Protect

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance has launched Peril Protect , a service that combines water-leak sensors, notifications, a 24-hour call center, and a contractor network to fix leaks. The startup is wholly owned by Farm Bureau and could be a mechanism to allow the insurer to expand beyond Indiana for the first time as the service is available across the US.

Peril Protect’s equipment works with no Wi-Fi connection or internet connection. There is no programming required, and customers can simply turn on the equipment and place it in the labeled location. If a leak is detected, a text notification will be sent to the phone number(s) on file. The 24/7 call-center will then contact the customer to verify the leak and determine how they can assist. If requested, a contractor will be dispatched.

Pricing starts at $23.99 a month for an Essential package that includes 4 sensors. The company also offers Preferred and Premier packages for those that require more sensors.

“Having personally experienced multiple water losses, we understand the emotional and financial toll that water damage can bring. There is more at stake than a deductible. Peril Protect’s mission is to provide our customers with not only a sense of security in knowing their home is being monitored for water leaks 24/7, but also the comfort that comes with having experienced contractors ready to help with any damage at a moment’s notice.

Time is of the essence once water begins to leak, which is why each alert Peril Protect receives is treated like an emergency, no matter the water loss. The quicker a water leak is addressed, the less damage occurs, the sooner life returns to normal.” – Product manager at Peril Protect, Isaiah Blackburn.
