HUK-COBURG launches claims service for connected cars
HUK-COBURG, one of largest car insurers in Germany, has launched a new service for connected vehicles, which simplifies accident reporting.
The new service leverages connected car data to streamline the process of filing insurance claims after a minor accident. When a connected vehicle detects a collision, it sends a notification directly to HDD GmbH, a subsidiary of HUK-COBURG. Customers are then guided through the reporting process using the HUK Mein Auto app, enabling them to file a claim. Key accident details such as location and time are automatically transmitted by the vehicle. Drivers can supplement this information in the app by providing additional details about the incident, uploading photos of the damage and including information about other parties involved.
The service is available for vehicles from the Stellantis Group (Opel, Fiat, Peugeot, DS Automobiles, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Maserati), BMW, and MINI. The plan is to expand to additional brands in the future.
HUK-COBURG partnered with connected car data company Caruso to launch the new offering.
