Honey Insurance raises $12 million

Australian home insurance intermediary Honey Insurance has closed a $12 million seed round from several investors including ABN Group, AGL, Apex Capital Partners, Metricon Homes, Mirvac Group, PEXA, RACQ , REI, and SFG Investments.

Established last year, the startup (a team of ~17) provides home, renters, and landlord insurance underwritten by RACQ.

In addition, Honey claims it gives out home sensors and that homeowners receive up to an 8% discount on their home and contents premium as “a thank you” for using sensors to monitor against common risks like fire, water damage, and break-ins.
