Hiscox launches digital professional liability coverage for general and artisan contractors
Hiscox has launched a digital Professional Liability product for contractors, with specialized versions for both general contractors and artisan subcontractors. Unique in the market for its digital availability, customers can obtain a quote online within five minutes.
The Professional Liability for General Contractors covers a contractors’ ancillary design and engineering exposure on a jobsite or on a project, such as an error in carrying out an architect’s designs. It also includes coverage for job site contractors pollution liability, FHA/OSHA/ADA regulatory proceedings, and bodily injury and property damage claims arising out of professional services. Even if the insured hasn’t made a mistake, Hiscox will provide an attorney to defend them against a baseless lawsuit for their professional liability.
The Professional Liability for Artisan Subcontractors was developed to suit the unique needs and risk profiles of highly specialized contractors, and includes faulty workmanship coverage. Faulty workmanship covers claims alleging faulty or inadequate skill, quality, or craftmanship, or the use of defective materials, in the insured’s work, such as a framer needing to redo their work after not following the approved construction drawings.
