Gojek launches GoSure
Indonesian ride-hailing giant Gojek announced the official launch of its online insurance offering, GoSure, developed in partnership with local insurance startup PasarPolis .
GoSure, which can be accessed via the Gojek app, offers three types of products – travel insurance, motor vehicle insurance, and mobile device protection. The company launched the beta version in October 2019, and by January 2020, the total insurance products sold increased by 60x.
In 2018, Gojek, along with e-commerce company Tokopedia and travel booking startup Traveloka, announced a strategic partnership with and investment in PasarPolis. The round itself was not disclosed but according to Deal Street Asia, it’s in the range of $5-8 million.
Gojek also announced a partnership with AIA Indonesia last September to provide life and health insurance services and wellness propositions to its Gojek users, drivers, and merchants across Indonesia. The partnership also aims to raise the awareness of life and health insurance solutions in the country.
“Through GoSure, we want to change the stigma in society about insurance that is considered expensive and complicated claims process. With the reach of applications and the reliability of Gojek technology as a mainstay brand that is so closely attached to the daily life of the nation, we are more confident to introduce PasarPolis products through GoSure so that more and more people will benefit.” – PasarPolis CEO Cleosent Randing.
