Global Aerospace announces changes to its Canadian underwriting team
Global Aerospace , a provider of aviation and aerospace insurance, announced the retirement of Steve Hughes, Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers (Canada) Limited (Global Canada), effective December 31, 2024.
Steve began his 11-year tenure at Global Aerospace as Executive Underwriter and since that time has been an integral part of Global Canada. He was promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer in 2018, overseeing strategic growth, portfolio optimization and client service initiatives, while actively contributing to the Global Canada Board and Group Executive Committee.

The company is pleased to announce the following changes to its Canadian underwriting team as they transition from Steve’s leadership.
Jason Hutchings will join as Chief Underwriting Officer, effective October 28, 2024. Jason has over twenty-five years of experience working in various roles in the aviation, marine, inland-marine and aviation insurance industries. He has held senior leadership positions within the broking, risk management and underwriting communities and counts Marsh, Aon and AIG among his past employers. Jason holds a Master of Business Administration from Dalhousie University.
Effective immediately, Kevin Yuen has been promoted to the position of Underwriting Director, Head of General Aviation, Canada. Kevin has over twenty-five years of experience within the Canadian insurance industry, with the last fifteen years focussed on aviation insurance. Kevin will assume enhanced responsibilities related to strategic management of the company’s cross-country mainline general aviation portfolio and be appointed to the Board of Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers (Canada) Limited.
