GenAI startup Automat raises $3.75 million
Automat AI has raised $3.75 million in a seed funding round led by Initialized, and supported by other investors such as Khosla Ventures and Y Combinator. The startup allows companies to automate processes through user-friendly interfaces and by uploading videos or text-based instructions.
This capability is especially beneficial for businesses lacking accessible APIs for their operational needs, from handling a large volume of medical claims in insurance to verifying trade licenses in fintech. “Whether you’re an insurance team handling millions of medical claims per month or a fintech firm looking to automate trade license verification for your customers, Automat’s flexible UI based automations solve the missing links where there aren’t APIs.”
The idea for Automat came from its founders’ previous experience at Google, where they realized that creating automation should be as simple as describing it. Unlike traditional Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools that can be expensive and time-consuming to set up, Automat offers a usage-based SaaS subscription model. It incorporates features such as natural language processing and image recognition, made possible by generative AI.
Taylor Lint, CEO of CRM management company Swantide, praises Automat for its ability to fill in the gaps where APIs are lacking, stating that it helped accelerate their operational roadmap without needing expensive engineering resources.
