Flood Re launches free e-learning academy

Flood Re  has launched the Flood Re Academy, a new online learning platform offering free training on the Flood Re Scheme and its Build Back Better (BBB) initiative. The platform, unveiled at the Association of British Insurers’ headquarters, is designed to expand understanding across the insurance ecosystem—from underwriters to brokers—about flood risk, eligibility criteria, and property-level resilience measures.

The Academy includes five purpose-built modules currently under review for Chartered Insurance Institute accreditation. It complements Flood Re’s existing outreach efforts, including Lunch & Learn sessions that have already reached over 1,100 industry professionals.

The initiative is part of Flood Re’s broader push to prepare the market for the scheme’s exit in 2039, when flood coverage will return to risk-based pricing. By boosting awareness of PFR and BBB, the Academy aims to drive greater adoption of resilience measures among homeowners and improve insurer communication around flood risk.
