Figure 1 Raises Series B with Participation from John Hancock

Toronto-based Figure 1, a medical sharing app known as the “Instagram for doctors” has raised $10 million in a Series B round bringing its total funding to date to ~$68M. One of the backers is John Hancock. The startup, established in 2012, offers a mobile app that allows healthcare professionals to upload anonymous photos of their cases to a photo sharing platform with the goal of trading intel and asking for advice. And while anyone can join the network, only medical professionals can post photos and make comments. Bottom Line: 2 million registered users and a tentative revenue model (it recently began experimenting with monetization, adding sponsored content to the platform).

Speaking of John Hancock, it introduced a new tool called ExpressTrack that allows lucky folks to obtain life insurance in as little as three days, no fluids necessary. Haven Life, right in front of you.
