Fairfax Invests in Digit Insurance

Fairfax Financial is investing $45m in Go Digit Infoworks, the parent company of Indian digital insurer Digit Insurance , which will receive $44m from the round, bringing its total funding to date to $104m. This is the second round of investment by Fairfax, making it the largest shareholder of Digit.

 

 

Founded in 2016 and led by Kamesh Goyal, Digit has 525 employees with plans to add 200 more by September this year. The company, which claims to already sell 6k policies a day has partnerships with leading platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart and Paytm for products related to mobile phones and flight delays.

 

 

“We are looking at major expansion opportunities for our product line as well as our locations of operation and staff strength, looking at the growth path we felt the need for this second round of funding” – Chairman of Digit Insurance, Kamesh Goyal .
