Estrella Insurance family opens Miami burger restaurant
The family behind Estrella Insurance has opened Star Burger, a farm-to-table smashburger restaurant in Miami.
Located at 4901 SW 8th Street, the 2,750-square-foot restaurant serves burgers made with grass-fed, grass-finished beef raised at the Estrella family’s ranch in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and shipped directly to Miami.
The concept was inspired by Estrella Insurance founder Nicolas Estrella, who grew up on a tobacco farm in Cuba before moving to the US. His sons later developed the family’s ranching operation into a restaurant concept.
“Though he grew up with modest means, Nicolas Estrella, founder of Estrella Insurance, was never short on land. Raised on a tobacco farm in Cuba, his family depended on the land to produce their food. It was there where he learned that the best beef came from the cows they kept for milk and meat, cattle that grazed the pastures for all the nutrition they needed.”
“Our family has long been committed to caring for the communities we serve, especially in Miami. This is our home. As food brings people together and nurtures, opening a restaurant felt natural.” – Joey Estrella, president of Star Burger.
The menu includes smashburgers, chili fries and fried pickles, along with house-made sauces. The restaurant offers indoor seating and a 750-square-foot covered terrace and is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The name Star Burger is a reference to the family name, as “estrella” means “star” in Spanish.
As background, Alliant-owned Confie acquired Estrella Insurance in May 2023, adding the Miami-based franchisor’s more than 190 locations to its personal lines distribution business. Estrella Insurance continues to operate under its existing brand. Star Burger is a separate venture of the Estrella family, which founded the insurance business.
