Chubb names new digital business leaders

Chubb has appointed Johan Oosthuizen global head of digital business, giving him responsibility for the insurer’s digital operations, including partnership acquisition and performance and product deployment.

Oosthuizen previously served as Chubb’s global digital chief technology officer, where he helped build the company’s embedded insurance and digital partnership capabilities. He will report to Paul McNamee, president of Overseas General Insurance, and will be accountable to Chubb Life president Bryce Johns for life insurance production.

Chubb also named Gabriel Lazaro global head of digital growth and strategic consumer partnerships. He will oversee relationships and growth strategies across digital platforms, technology companies and emerging ecosystems spanning P&C and life insurance.

Lazaro joined Chubb in 2016 as head of digital for Latin America and most recently served as head of digital business for Overseas General Insurance. He will report to McNamee and Oosthuizen.

“Johan has been an integral part of the technology strategy that made our digital ambitions possible. His deep technical expertise, paired with his commercial instincts for how partnerships create value, makes him exactly the right leader to take our digital business into its next phase of growth.” – Ringsted.

The appointments follow the naming of Sean Ringsted as chief scientist and executive vice president of Chubb Group.

As a side note, Corgi is building its homeowners insurance program using rates and rating factors derived from Chubb’s Masterpiece program.
