Breeze Adds Short-Term Disability Insurance to Growing Online Platform

The short-term product is unique to the market and complements multiple long-term products already available on Breeze.

Breeze, the Omaha-based insurtech simplifying how disability and critical illness insurance are distributed, announced today the new offering of an individual short-term disability insurance product.

With the addition of short-term disability insurance, Breeze has bolstered its online income protection platform already featuring multiple long-term disability insurance products.

The product launch also means Breeze now offers the only individual short-term disability plan with a 100% online experience and benefits for family medical leave.

“To meet a range of needs for both consumers and our distribution partners, we want to provide a diverse suite of digital disability insurance products,” Colin Nabity, CEO and co-founder at Breeze, said. “We’re excited that our platform finally makes individual short-term disability insurance easily accessible, especially for those juggling the demands of work and family.”

Consumers interested in individual short-term disability insurance can use Breeze’s online platform to get a quote in seconds, apply in minutes, and manage their policy.

Insurance distributors and independent agents partnered with Breeze can offer the short-term disability insurance product to their clients directly through the Breeze Agent Portal or through Breeze’s proprietary API. In addition to referring their clients to Breeze, partners can also use Breeze to quote and apply for individual short-term disability insurance on behalf of their clients.

“The launch of individual short-term disability insurance on Breeze gives agents and advisors a turnkey platform to sell a unique product and save time doing so,” Andrew Hamill, Head of Distribution at Breeze, said. “It’s our goal to help current and future partners accelerate their short-term income protection sales with this product, which can feature family leave benefits.”

With just 19% of US workers having access to paid family medical leave through their employers, the individual short-term disability insurance product offered by Breeze can provide financial security to those that may experience a loss of income while providing full time care for a child, spouse, or parent.

It can also be a good option for employees who want to protect their income but don’t get offered a group disability insurance plan through their employer.

For Breeze, adding short-term disability insurance to its platform advances the company’s mission to make income protection more accessible by simplifying how it is bought and sold.
