Battleface raises $1.25 million

Travel insurance MGA Battleface has raised nearly $1.25 million through an equity offering, according to a regulatory filing.

The Columbus-based company is seeking up to $3.5 million and has raised $1,249,985 from four investors since the first sale on August 7. The offering is not connected to a merger or acquisition.

Founded in 2017, Battleface offers travel insurance to consumers and through distribution partners. Before the latest offering, the company had disclosed $49 million across three rounds: a $2 million seed round in 2019, a $12 million Series A in 2020 and a $35 million Series B in 2024. Investors have included Drive Capital, Hudson Structured Capital Management, Alumni Ventures, Fintech Ventures Fund and Greenlight Re.

Battleface also operates Robin Assist, a claims handling and travel assistance platform launched in 2023 for insurers, brokers, MGAs and other travel businesses. The platform provides 24/7 medical, travel and security assistance, claims administration, telemedicine and immediate payments in more than 140 currencies. It operates across more than 185 countries and lists Convex, Crum & Forster, Lloyd’s, MS Amlin, Hamilton, Canopius, Everest and Travel Insured International among its customers.

The move follows five distribution partnerships announced this year. BizAway, Switchfly and TripX Travel offer Battleface travel insurance through their platforms, while Battleface administers products for WAS Insurance. It also partnered with Trevolution Group to embed emergency-only international travel medical coverage within Dreampass, supported by Robin Assist’s 24/7 assistance services.
