Aviva launches hybrid fronting offering for MGAs

Aviva has launched a hybrid fronting offering for larger, established MGAs through its Global Corporate & Specialty business.

The offering combines fronting capacity with risk retention and is designed for multi-country, multi-line insurance programs generating at least £20 million in gross written premium.

The business will operate through a standalone profit-and-loss unit with decision-making based in London. Aviva will initially focus on classes where it already has underwriting expertise.

John Andrews is leading the operation as head of Global MGA Hybrid Fronting.

“We’re bringing something different to the MGA market by combining fronting capabilities with meaningful risk retention. As demand grows for partners that can support international, multi-class programmes, our hybrid model gives MGAs, brokers and reinsurers a single route into Aviva’s global reach, specialist underwriting expertise and financial strength. For MGAs, that means access to a fronting partner with the credibility, flexibility and balance sheet strength they need to attract and retain capacity support.” – Andrews.
