Apple is working on a new service contract
Based on recent filings, it appears that Apple is working on a new service contract which will offer extended warranty protection “applicable to certain Apple-branded iOS devices for July 2023.”
One key difference between this upcoming warranty product and Apple’s existing warranty programs is that accidental damage caused by a person handling the product is not covered. Another difference is that the new warranty offers coverage if the device’s battery capacity falls below 80%.
While the filing doesn’t specify the covered product, it could very well be the virtual reality headset the company is expected to unveil in a few months. According to Bloomberg, the device will come with a ~$3k price tag.
The warranty will also offer coverage for defects.
