Apple has not given up on its car ambitions but…

A letter Apple sent to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Nov. 22 suggests that Apple views itself as a new entrant in the automotive space . While Apple doesn’t explicitly state what are its plans around driverless cars, it does ask that official policies shouldn’t discriminate between new entrants and existing players by way of enforcing new players to go through a lengthy approval process for every step in the development of test vehicles.
