American Growth Insurance makes first acquisition

American Growth Insurance (AGI) has completed its first agency acquisition, purchasing Heller-Kowitz Insurance Advisors (team of ~20), a Baltimore-based independent agency. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2014, Heller-Kowitz offers personal lines, commercial lines, employee benefits, and life insurance and has been recognized by Reagan Consulting as a Best Practices agency.

The acquisition marks the beginning of AGI’s strategy to build a national network of operator-led agencies, starting in the Mid-Atlantic. Backed by Rockbridge Growth Equity and Atomic, AGI acquires independent agencies and migrates them onto its proprietary technology platform while leaving local leadership in place.

Heller-Kowitz will gain access to AGI’s technology platform and broader carrier network while continuing to operate under its existing leadership.

AGI launched in 2026 with ~$70 million in committed capital to acquire independent insurance agencies.
