Accredited Surety to exit California workers’ compensation insurance
Accredited Surety and Casualty Company announced it will stop offering workers’ compensation insurance in California.
The company has about 3,949 policies in the state and works through partners like Atlas General Insurance and Appalachian Underwriters.
Starting May 1, 2025 (for Atlas policies) and July 1, 2025 (for Appalachian policies), it will begin non-renewing existing customers.
Accredited Insurance said the decision came after ending its partnerships with these agencies and reviewing its position in the market. “The decision to cease writing workers compensation business in the State of California was reached after strong consideration and extensive conversations. We look forward to your approval of this proposal. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.” It will continue handling any claims from policies issued before the exit.
