Walmart forms insurance agency
“Yes, you read that right, Walmart now has an insurance agency,” reads a job description on the company’s career page. The Bentonville-based retailer has established an agency by the name of Walmart Insurance Services LLC, and it is looking to hire several Medicare insurance agents that will begin working on the first week of August. The new hires will enroll customers in Medicare health insurance plans over the phone and they will work from a Dallas-area call center, but there is also the option for remote work.
“The transformation Walmart is making to become an insurance broker will impact individuals and communities for years to come – this is a chance to be part of something special!,” the ad noted. The company is also looking for a Medicare sales supervisor, sales manager and sales trainer, as well as a quality assurance worker to monitor the sales calls.
Last month we covered Walmart’s acquisition of some assets of CareZone, a startup that makes it easier for people to manage multiple medications, organize health information, and access health services from their smartphones. The startup also helps members shop for Medicare plans with insurance brokers licensed in all 50 states.
