The second time around for Liberty Videocon’s telematics play
Liberty Videocon General Insurer (LVGI), which is a JV between Boston-based Liberty Mutual and Videocon is launching a telematics solution in India and it isn’t the first time. Back in 2013 Liberty Videocon attempted to offer a UBI coupled with a dongle. Peeps didn’t like the idea of the dongle and that was the end of it. Now the company will be offering a UBI policy that revolves around RFID stickers that are placed on a car’s windscreen and a mobile-app. Recall: last year the Indian insurer launched a mobile based quote-to-purchase-to-claims solution targeting home insurance shoppers. Bottom Line: ducks in a row.
