Insurance UX: Golf Course First Design

Web First. Mobile First. Golf Course First.

A pro-tip from the Ask Kodiak design team: If you’re building an app for the insurance industry, make sure it works well on the golf course – let’s call it “Golf Course First Design“.

There’s basically only one essential test in our rigorous Golf Course First Design certification process:

  1. Can someone pop open your app/website/whatever and get something done in the cart between holes?

If your app is too onerous, or there’s too much cruft in between the user and what they’re trying to do the answer is going to be no. Optimize login and tee that user up to do what she/he is trying to do so they can get back to their game.

Ask Kodiak presents about as perfect a use case there could ever be for Golf Course First Design. Let’s say an agent is out on the course with a prospective customer and finds out that the prospect is about to enter the commercial trucking business. In the cart the agent pops open Ask Kodiak, and knows instantly which of her carriers are in-the-game for the future liability and auto policies.

If you need official certification for your own app or website from our professionally trained on-site course testing team, we’d be happy to hit the course with ya for 18.
