Two mutuals merge

Pennsylvania-based Donegal Insurance and New Mexico-based Mountain States announced their merger. Donegal Mutual gets to keep the name, which is quite a shame given it’s the one where senior management thinks anyone is replaceable. No executive officers from Mountain States are expected to lose their job.

Bottom Line: the sort of small talk one can expect at a NAMIC (the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies) conference. I’ll take insurtech hype anytime.
