All eyes on Mobileye

Israeli semiautonomous software supplier Mobileye announced it would not renew its contract with Tesla once it runs out.  Some tie the abrupt change of status to Mobileye’s recent partnership with BMW, while others suggest it’s related to Tesla’s recent fatal ‘Autopilot’ crash. Bottom Line: Mobileye seems to be okay with this as it secured bigger, better friends in the form of Intel and BMW, looking to shift focus to full autonomous tech. Speaking of autonomous tech, UK-based FiveAI raised $2.7 million earlier this month to build a more cost-effective autonomous software that doesn’t require the mapping of “37.2 million kilometers of road across the planet” to deliver a reliable solution.
