OurPath Raises $3M to Fight Type 2 Diabetes
Earlier this month, health tech startup Second Nature announced it has raised $3m in a Seed round to tackle Type 2 diabetes.
The company, established in 2014 and led by cofounders Chris Edson and Mike Gibbs, looks to reverse type 2 diabetes in the UK via its 3-month digital health program that helps users lose weight and improve their lifestyle behavior. For £30 a month for the first 3 months, users enjoy a tailored program, online support and access to a recipe book; to name three. There’s also a more “popular plan” for £60 a month, that offers a wearable activity tracker and smart weighing scales auto-synched to the app in addition to the core offering.
Wait, there’s more. Last year the startup announced its partnership with Roche Diabetes Care to roll its offering to consumers across the UK and Ireland. Until then the OurPath program has only been available on a small scale through its website and in NHS trials through GP surgeries in London. Bottom Line: Previous participants saw an average weight loss of over 7kg and a 50% reduction in risk of type 2 diabetes.
