Atlian raises pre-seed funding for construction insurance software

Atlian , a London startup building AI software for construction insurance brokers, has raised a pre-seed round led by Fuel Ventures. Participants included SyndicateRoom’s Access EIS, GI Network and angel investors including Metaswitch co-founder Chris Mairs. The amount was not disclosed.

Founded by James Buckley-Thorp, who previously founded life insurance startup Bequest and was an early team member at Zego, Atlian helps independent UK brokers identify construction projects, assess risks and prepare submissions. Its software tracks projects from the planning stage, giving brokers an opportunity to pursue business earlier.

The funding will support Atlian’s commercial launch, expand its construction data and fund the appointment of a head of sales from the broker market. The company plans to onboard its first brokers in November.

Atlian has also launched WhoWritesThis.co.uk, a free insurance market finder for brokers. According to the company, the tool has handled nearly 1,000 searches since launching this month.

The round marks the first investment by GI Network, a newly formed UKBAA-accredited angel syndicate backed by a community of approximately 3,000 professional investors.
