Seaworthy brings disability insurance estimates to ChatGPT
Seaworthy Insurance has introduced a ChatGPT app that provides individual disability insurance cost estimates based on a user’s occupation, age, sex, and income.
The estimates draw on more than 400 carrier illustrations prepared in 2026 across five disability insurers. Users can adjust monthly benefits, waiting periods, inflation protection, and catastrophic coverage to see how estimated costs change. Individual carriers are not named.
Estimates assume true own-occupation coverage, partial disability benefits, and benefits payable to age 65. Pricing is based on Texas illustrations, with state differences and underwriting affecting final premiums. Users can request formal quotes from a licensed advisor, with follow-up within one business day.
The app follows an AI-driven rebrand. Founded in 2011, the brokerage changed its name from Disability Insurance Agency to Seaworthy Insurance in June 2026. Managing Partner Toby Lason said the descriptive name had become a disadvantage as more consumers turn to AI assistants for recommendations: it could be interpreted as a category rather than a distinct company.
Seaworthy serves high-income professionals across all 50 states and says it has placed more than $5 billion in disability and life insurance protection. Its carrier relationships include Guardian, Principal, MassMutual, Ameritas, and The Standard.
