The Hartford combines data and AI with technology in leadership reshuffle

The Hartford  announced leadership and organizational changes effective November 2, bringing data and artificial intelligence under Chief Information Officer Shekar Pannala and adding operations to Chief Claims Officer Stephen Deane’s responsibilities.

Pannala, who became CIO in March 2025, will lead the combined technology, data, and AI organization. Deane, who returned to The Hartford as chief claims officer in November 2023, will oversee both claims and operations.

The insurer also appointed James M. Yanosy as chief risk officer. Yanosy joined The Hartford in 2003 and has served as CFO for Business Insurance, Employee Benefits, Claims, and centralized services since 2019. He will report directly to Chairman and CEO Christopher Swift, as will Pannala. Deane will continue reporting to President A. Morris “Mo” Tooker.

Current Chief Risk Officer Prateek Chhabra and Chief Data, AI and Operations Officer Jeffery Hawkins will leave the company at year-end.
