Markel Canada launches contractors and trades offering

Markel Canada has launched a dedicated Contractors & Trades insurance offering, bringing together casualty, property, and specialist coverage for contractors and construction-related businesses.

Coverage includes commercial general liability, excess liability, and property, with options for contractors’ equipment, tools, and installation floaters. Depending on the risk, brokers can also access contractors pollution liability and errors and omissions coverage. Additional options may include business interruption and equipment breakdown.

The insurer’s appetite includes mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors; finishing and building envelope trades; fire protection and restoration contractors; equipment installers; environmental and remediation contractors; engineers; and selected non-residential building and infrastructure operations.

Markel has also partnered with ARAG Legal Solutions to provide policyholders with a legal helpline, contract review support, HR resources, and a legal document centre.

The offering focuses on contractors and trades package business rather than construction project-specific insurance.
