Meanwhile raises $37.5 million

Bermuda-based Bitcoin life insurer Meanwhile has raised $37.5 million from existing investors, bringing its total funding to more than $180 million.

Bain Capital Crypto led the round, with participation from Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital.

Earlier this year, Meanwhile launched BTC Life 1-Pay, a single-premium whole life policy for high-net-worth clients outside the US. Customers pay a premium in Bitcoin and receive a guaranteed lifetime death benefit denominated in Bitcoin. After the first year, policyholders can borrow up to 90% of the policy’s value.

The product complements BTC 10-Pay, which is designed for US taxpayers. Meanwhile has signed 15 brokers serving wealthy families, including Lioner and Apeiron Group, with distribution spanning Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE, and Switzerland.

The company says its net long-term underwriting income has exceeded last year’s total and is on track to more than double in 2026.

Meanwhile received a Class IILT license from the Bermuda Monetary Authority in July 2024. Its balance sheet, reserves, and audited financial statements are denominated in Bitcoin, with policyholder assets held by regulated institutional custodians.
