Nettle raises $4.8 million

Nettle , an AI loss control platform for commercial insurers, has raised $4.8 million in seed funding led by MTech Capital, with participation from Project A, Sure Valley Ventures, Portfolio Ventures, and Ventures Together. The round brings its total funding to $6.8 million, following a $2 million pre-seed round in March 2025.

Founded in 2024 by former McKinsey QuantumBlack colleagues Jack Miller and Katya Kinane, Nettle combines remote risk identification, guided inspections, evidence analysis, and report generation. Its platform analyzes images, video, audio, documents, and third-party data to produce risk scores and recommendations.

Nettle works with insurers including Allianz and Brotherhood Mutual across Europe, the US, and Asia. Initially focused on commercial property, it has expanded into liability, construction, and workers’ compensation. The company says its platform helps risk engineers complete inspections five times faster.

Nettle is also extending its technology to agents and policyholders, allowing insurers to collect data on sites that would otherwise be too costly to inspect. The funding will support expansion across the US and Europe and hiring across engineering and go-to-market teams.
