Kin opens its doors to AI shopping agents
Kin announced that consumers using Meta’s Muse and other AI agents can shop for home insurance quotes through Kin.com, positioning the approach as an alternative to insurers and marketplaces that block automated shopping.
The company said Muse successfully retrieved home insurance quotes in its testing after asking customers only a handful of questions. Kin attributes that experience to its existing property data, which reduces the information homeowners need to provide.
Harper argued that AI shopping agents could challenge distribution models built around brokers and independent agents. For Kin, which sells directly to consumers, he described the shift as an opportunity to attract additional traffic.
Kin expects AI agents to handle more of the work involved in shopping for insurance, including gathering information, entering it across websites, comparing coverage and explaining options.
