HSB turns smart appliance data into home insurance leads
HSB is offering insurers SmartLeads, a service that uses connected appliance data to identify prospective homeowners customers and inform risk assessment. HSB says it is working with brands including Samsung, and participating homeowners may receive rewards such as smart home credits.
The Samsung–HSB work predates SmartLeads. The companies announced Smart Home Savings in January 2026, following a Florida pilot with home insurers in 2025. That program lets participating insurers verify connected Samsung appliances and offer eligible homeowners policy credits. SmartLeads adds an insurer-facing marketing use: reaching homeowners whose connected appliances may help reduce property risks.
HSB filed a SmartLeads trademark application on September 17 covering insurance sales leads, residential property risk information for underwriting and pricing, and software for analyzing smart appliance data.
